Libby Cooper is a 24-year-old London-based artist working across ceramics and photography. She is currently in her final year at UCA, studying Ceramics and Glass. Her practice is rooted in honesty, vulnerability, and personal experiences.
In March 2020, Libby founded Born To Be Nude, a series dedicated to creating a safe space to celebrate nudity without it being sexualised. Through raw, realistic portrayals of the human body, the project challenges the way nudity is seen and discussed.
Libby is best known for turning taboo subjects and personal emotional experience into art. Her work doesn't shy away from discomfort. Instead, she treats it as a starting point for connection, honesty, and understanding. Her most recent project explored grief and family conflict, told through ceramics and film. Clay becomes a way of holding and shaping difficult emotions, while film adds movement, voice, and time to a story that can't be neatly resolved.
Across both mediums, a consistent thread runs through her practice: the belief that what is most personal is often most universal.
